Iowa Works has one mission: to provide help for Central Iowans who want a job they can go to so they can support themselves and their families.

To support that mission, Iowa Employment Solutions (IES) has improved its customer service and commitment to everyone who needs our services.

You'll first notice a change when you walk through our front door. You will be met by an IES greeter who will find out more about your situation and introduce you to the services offered by IES and Iowa Workforce Development.

The next step will be a personal assessment to determine your current skills, a discussion of your career and personal interests to help you achieve your career goals.

After that, you'll be connected to an Employment Team that will support your efforts to find a rewarding career.

It's as simple as A, B, C.

 

Who qualifies for our services?

There are two major groups:

• Layed Off (Dislocated) Workers—people who are out of work through no fault of their own. Typically this means their employer has had to downsize and eliminate staff, or has gone out of business.

• Adult Workers—includes those who meet low-income guidelines, or receive food stamps or other forms of public assistance, or have a disability, or have dropped out of school and/or lack basic skills. Or they may be an adult student who has to juggle the demands of work, family and school.

Iowa Works offers pre-employment assistance, training services, on-the-job training, job listings at http://www.iowajobs.org, and support services such as health care.
